Mallinckrodt Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs)

Pharmaceutical ingredients make up one of Mallinckrodt’s oldest product lines, with the production of medicinal chemicals beginning in 1867 at our plant in St. Louis, Missouri. Today, bulk pharmaceuticals are produced at manufacturing plants in St. Louis, MO; Phillipsburg, NJ; Paris, KY; Raleigh, NC; Greenville, IL; and the UK.

Mallinckrodt has a significant franchise in supplying bulk pharmaceuticals in the area of pain management and is the largest manufacturer of both medicinal narcotics and acetaminophen in the world. Mallinckrodt active ingredients are in the majority of the leading analgesics in the U.S.

In addition to active ingredients, Mallinckrodt supplies a wide range of inactive ingredients which are used in countless other pharmaceuticals. Almost every tablet made in the US contains at least one Mallinckrodt product.
